Why not equity crowdfunding?
Some may argue, “well why not allow backers to receive equity in the businesses we are donating to?” This is a great question, especially since the enactment of the Equity Crowdfunding bill in 2015 signed by our president Barack Obama. This bill allows for anyone with as little as $100 to privately buy stake in a company before its initial public offering (IPO). We believe that the best way to be vested in a company is to be invested in a company. However, it’s also important that a business is able to jumpstart, test their market, and prove that their concept works, all before aiming to gain funds from investors.
Who can Crowdfund?
We built We Fund Black as a tool for Black creators and entrepreneurs to let the world know of all the exciting projects we are creating in need of funding. We’re proud to be one of the only African American owned crowdfunding platforms aimed at helping more creatives in the Black community get the funding they need.
